March Break Math Academy (Grades 9-12)
March 13-17
Cost: $325* + tax
Location: St George Campus @ Bloor and Spadina

The Mathematics Academy Programs are aimed at providing Grades 9 – 12 students with experience in Mathematics and Mathematics Research. The program strives to introduce students to concepts not typically covered in the standard curriculum.

Students will gain knowledge and skills in various aspects of mathematics and will have a chance to meet with members of the department currently involved in mathematics research.

The purpose of this program is to introduce students to an in-depth topic which is not normally covered in the curriculum. Rather than lectures, the program will be run with a heavy “discovery” component, where students do most of the work by working in carefully selected problems to figure results by themselves. The topic will be creative, fun, and somewhat abstract; in other words, what mathematicians consider “real math”.

Bursaries are available for this program. Further information can be found on Bursary Application page.

There is an application procedure for this program, details can be found here: http://mathplus.math.toronto.edu/home/ma

AGE AND GRADE GUIDELINES — UPDATED 2016

  • Age and grade guidelines have been set to be appropriate for the developmental stage of the child, the facility in which the program is held and the program goals. Your child’s safety and enjoyment of our programs are of paramount importance to us and we ask that all parents and guardians adhere to these age guidelines.
  • In programs for 4 – 7 year-olds, the child must be the appropriate age by the first day of camp; this is for the safety of all campers and staff, particularly around swimming and supervision. We will not accommodate any requests for age exception in these age groups and we reserve the right to ask for proof of age.
  • In all Camp U of T programs for children ages 8 and older, the participant must be the appropriate age BEFORE December 31, 2017.
  • If your child is too young to participate this year, we look forward to seeing him/her in our programs next year! If you would like to enroll your older child in a program that is set for younger children, please contact us to discuss the specifics.
