One of our Family Care Advisors can meet with you one-on-one to explore options for caregiving while working and/or studying. For employees, options may include reducing to part-time for a defined period or a caregiving leave. In some cases, you may be able to request an accommodation relating to your family status. Students, please refer to our Navigating Caregiving and Studies page.
Your caregiving journey may fluctuate. You are encouraged to meet with the Family Care Office early in your journey, if possible, so that you know the options in advance of needing them. You may end up not needing the options, such as a caregiving leave, but if you do, at least you’ll be prepared when the time comes.
There are times when one needs to take a caregiving leave from employment. The Family Care Office is here to assist you in those difficult situations. Please reach out to us as soon as you are able to so we can advise you on the appropriate medical certificate and form to take a leave from work as well as what you need to do to apply for Employment Insurance (if eligible).
