Babysitting

Babysitter Listing

Our babysitter listing contains babysitters who are available to babysit in Toronto and Peel Region. The babysitters, who are University of Toronto students or the partner/spouse of a student, have a wide array of training and experience with children and child care. The Babysitter Listing has been created to assist staff, faculty, and student parents in finding casual child care.

To access a directory of available babysitters please email us with your U of T student or personnel number. Once we verify your status with the University, we will send you a password. If you are not getting a response from a student, please let us know so that we can follow up with them accordingly to ask if they would like to remain on the bulletin board.

Wondering what to ask a potential babysitter? See this tipsheet that can help get you started in choosing the right caregiver for your family.

A good conversation can make a great impression, but you should still consider checking references before hiring a babysitter. See this article by Canadian Nanny to help you conduct a thorough reference check.

For information on child care centres, home child care providers or other child care options, please feel free to browse our tipsheets. For further questions or concerns, please contact the office at 416-978-0951 or via email at family.care@utoronto.ca.

If you are unable to find a babysitter through our listing for an urgent need, then you might consider hiring a qualified caregiver through an agency.

To find a caregiver agency, you can search on-line using the terms ‘caregiver agency and your city’ or ‘nanny agency and your city’. Upon visiting these websites you can then confirm if the agency provides temporary or emergency caregivers, and what screening/qualifications these caregivers will have.
