Child Care Reimbursement for Family Care Office Programming

The Family Care Office has a small fund of money that is available to assist U of T students with family responsibilities who wish to attend FCO programming and activities but are unable to because of child care costs.

Students who wish to participate in an FCO activity must apply for the child care cost reimbursement five business days in advance of the event by emailing family.care@utoronto.ca. If the application is approved, reimbursement will be processed within six weeks, provided the FCO receives a receipt for child care costs.

Reimbursement Details

  • The maximum amount of reimbursement will be $100 per activity.
  • The maximum hourly rate that can be reimbursed is $20/hour.
  • Care providers must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Child care costs receipt must be provided within two weeks of the activity.

Please note: we recommend you start researching your child care options early as there are waitlists for child care spaces. You may be eligible for a municipal child care subsidy through the City of Toronto or your local municipality, but again there are waitlists, so apply early.
